Day 278 to 284: 19th to 25th March 2018 - Back to normality.... for now!

With Mum and Dad gone, the reality hit that we are now on the final stretch of time in Marina di Ragusa, our home for the past 4 months. Along with the realisation that we are running out of time to order any last minute parcels, also comes the frustration that after a week of lovely weather during Mum and Dad's visit, we now have several days of high winds.

Even though we all have common ground in that we currently live aboard our boats, there feels a difference between those that are living aboard indefinitely and those, like us, that have allocated an allotted period of time to escape everyday "normal" life for an adventure. Those that are living this life indefinitely seem in no rush to move away from Marina di Ragusa. Our winter mooring fees cover berthing until the end of April so there is no financial rush to get moving, in fact the bigger boats are less inclined to leave early as unsettled weather may mean more marina berths rather than anchoring which in a large boat can be extremely costly. However those of us like us, that are here for a limited period of time, feel the need to get moving as soon as practicable so as to squeeze every last drop of adventure into our time away from the 9 'til 5 life we are temporarily escaping from. Unsettled weather makes doing jobs, and even just living on board, more challenging, as well as highlighting that the weather gods don't want us to leave just yet, in fact only this morning we woke to yellow skies, thunder, and hail!

So all in all this week has been a blur of ordering, cleaning and fixing along with enjoying the company of other sailing families, and the comedy highlight of the week which was Patrick forcing Esmé  to walk the whole length of the pier with him looking for her scooter which he later found at the bottom of the marina as it had been blown into the water overnight. Another win for the grappling anchor donated by his sister Jenny.
