Days 292 to 296: 3rd to 7th April - Another goodbye, this time to our American friends!

Tuesday 3rd April - Bye Bye Mrs Chippy

We dragged ourselves out of bed to wave our friends the Manzano's off as today was the day that they had chosen to set sail for Greece. They will leave a big hole in our lives here, not least because theirs is a large family of 5 kids. They will be sorely missed! Hopefully we will catch up at some point in the summer, but after that they plan to cross the Atlantic next winter so meeting up after that will require some serious planning!

In the afternoon Esmé and I went to a talk about fishing while and Esmé especially liked looking at the lures, particularly the octopus!

Wednesday 4th April

In the evening we had Max, Bianca, Beau, Kai and Zoe round for dinner. They are about the most laid back parents I know and great fun to be around. They're also vegetarian so I cooked  "Volcanoes", a meal idea stolen from Lynita where nachos are piled high with bean sauce, yoghurt, cheese and salad. We also introduced them to Angel Delight! As the evening wore on we started to watch Swallows and Amazons which was completely new to the kids, however the twins were getting a little tired so Max and Bianca took them home while Beau got to stay up late for the movie. Eventually AJ and Esmé got tired and headed to bed (they've seen the film many many times before) and Beau couldn't believe that his friends had chosen reading in bed over any form of electronics! I walked him back to his boat, iPad in hand so he could finish watching it while Max hunted for a free download of the Rick Riordan books AJ is speeding through at an alarming rate. 4 or 5 Euros per book on kindle for a book that he reads in 3 days flat is not in our budget!

Thursday 5th April

It was beautiful and sunny this week, and although I can't remember exactly what we did, I imagine the beach featured in there somewhere!

Friday 6th April

Sadly the Artemis grandkids flew home today, however we welcomed Lynita and the crew of Dizzie back to Marina Di Ragusa after their ill fated journey to Pompeii in "Rent a wreck". They had got stuck with the very same dreaded Fiat Multipla that we had rented when Mum and Dad were here and had had a catalogue of mishaps on their journey north. It was good to meet their visiting family and we all enjoyed time at the beach on what was one of the hottest days yet. I dug out my kite and Lynita gave me the kick up the bum I needed to fly it. Don't think it has been out much, if at all, since Esmé has been born and I'm a bit scared of it to be honest. Anyway it was great fun and I must do it again sometime soon!

Evening came and the kids enjoyed their usual Vesna night.

Saturday 7th April

On Saturday Lynita organised a party for her visiting nephew and all the kids had a great time. The cake problem was solved by the fact that Lottie had ordered a large chocolate cake as a belated birthday treat for Sacha who had recently returned from the uk. Once she realised we were struggling to organise a cake at late notice she kindly donated the chocolate delight to the cause!

Later in the afternoon we all went to the Stony beach for another BBQ, this time in daylight and with significantly less wind. It was a lovely relaxed afternoon which finished in a movie night for our kids and those on "No Plans Just Options" as Cam came to our boat with AJ and Esmé watched a different film with Max on No Plans.
