Days 452 & 453: 18th and 19th September 2018 - Cala Teulera and No Plans.... Just Options!

Tuesday 18th September

On waking I quickly checked to see if I could see our friends on "No Plans Just Options" on AIS as they were due to arrive this morning. They were about an hour or so out and we were keen to catch up. I messaged them to find out their plans and we agreed to meet at the Cala Teulera anchorage in the afternoon. Both sets of kids needed to do school so it was an incentive to be motivated and finish early!

As I did school with the kids, Patrick filled us up with water and very quickly we were ready to head off via the fuel dock. We saw Mrs Chippy head on by but in the end, despite being held up waiting for fuel, we didn't get in too long after them as we took a short cut down a small, shallow canal. The weather w
as pretty miserable and as we entered the anchorage we could see a multitude of boats swinging as the wind changed direction. It took us a couple of goes to be happy with where we were anchored but it was fun to wave and shout at No Plans as we circled the bay. We hadn't seen these guys since Ragusa either!

After a quick lunch and chill out Patrick took the kids out for a walk with No Plans while I prepared curry and updated our blog. Meanwhile plans were being made via Facebook Messenger! Mrs Chippy found another kid boat so we had a grand total of 9 adults and 10 kids wanting to socialise. We decided to split up for dinner with the kids being under Jill's responsible care on Mrs Chippy and the Adults on No Plans. Pots and pots of food were carried between boats in dinghies and we all had a lovely time catching up with old friends and making new ones. The anchorage was now peaceful except for the sound of kids delighted voices!

Wednesday 19th September 2018

As it was due to rain in the afternoon we decided to go exploring en mass in the morning and do school later.  Patrick wasn't feeling too great so I hitched a ride with No Plans the shore so we could visit the Fort to the North East of the Anchorage. The kids were really happy to be all together and jumped ashore, eager to race, investigate and have fun!

As we walked up the hill we had a lovely view of the anchorage, it's always lovely to see your boat sitting well behaved on the hook.

We really weren't sure what to expect so were pleasantly surprised when we came to the entrance of an enormous fort.

Jessica's parents kindly paid all our entrance fees and we headed inside to explore. We walked on ramparts, through tunnels, across moorland and generally had a great time for a couple of hours before hiking over to the BIG GUN!!!! The fort was built by the Spanish to protect it against the English and French although it was never used in earnest as improvements in ballistic capabilities while it was being built meant more defences were needed further out.

"Hey Mum, did you know your shadow
grows bigger as you go closer to the light?"

However with storm clouds building we thought it prudent to head back to the boats. On the way back Doug spotted a tortoise in the ditch at the side of the road which provided entertainment and another lesson for the day.

Back at the boat we had a late lunch followed by school and then a last play date with No Plans before dinner and bed.
