The kids were desperate to visit Ostende and "couldn't wait" for the summer so we promised we'd try at Spring Bank. There's a reason we don't usually go foreign when we only have one week. We like to pick a perfect weather window and not be rushed. There was a weather window but it was by no means perfect. We went for it with Ramsgate as a bail out option.... it was rough... but we decided to go for it!
The first time on a crossing that I've failed to provide us with a good meal on passage. In fact the culinary highlight of the voyage was a watermelon which took a superhuman effort to get on deck and hack to pieces!
Once in Ostende it was all smiles... we'd made amazing time but were very tired. We spent a couple of days enjoying all our old Oostende treats (except mussels... too early in the year). Then back via Dunkirk due to not making enough progress before the tide changed at Sandettie.
Absolutely exhausted but worth it!
