Covering boat cushions

The bench cushions in the main saloon were starting to become threadbare and we needed a quick temporary fix to hopefully last us the 18 months or so until our return to the UK. I found some quite heavy fabric at Ikea for 8.99 Euro a metre of which I needed 5 metres. Our friend Bianca donated a box of spiral pins she had on board to help with the job.

The plan was to cut the fabric roughly to shape using pinking sheers, wrap it round the cushion and then pin it in place. We pinned starting at the centre of the side that would be on show, and worked outwards towards the corners.

We then did the back and then tackled the end sections like wrapping a parcel as luckily these would not be seen.

The end result isn't perfect but it will do us until we have the time and money to get new cushions made. All in all I'm quite pleased for the 53 Euros it cost us.
