Day 38: 20/07/17 A tempory fix, hopefully on the move tomorrow.

So the French technician didn't turn up this morning either, and to make matters worse, the sea cock started to leak slightly. We stopped relying on the French and sprung into action. Patrick went off to get supplies of metal epoxy putty and whilst I stayed behind with the kids. On his return we had a message from Paul that he had spoken with Tony at Burnham Yacht Harbour and he would give us a ring. We decided not to wait and gave Burnham a call.

The general consensus was that we were unlikely to get any big ingress of water as the seepage was round the outside of the fitting which itself appeared to be intact. We were advised not to close it again and to try to shore up the fitting in the hull as best we could from the inside, then get her lifted as soon as we reasonably could. Tony also offered to source parts for us and send them out if we needed him to. We are really grateful to have such good friends in Burnham!

Although concerning, Patrick did remind me that we had leakages greater than this all the time with our old boat Vreny, and didn't think twice about it!

This afternoon I tried to contact the nearer of the two potential places to have Laurin lifted. There was a bit of a language barrier and I'm still not sure that they could lift us, or provide the expertise that we need. I'll continue to talk with them via email but our plan now is to head to H2O at Saint Jean de Losna which is about 10 days motoring away. H2O were recommended by the Cruising Association guy who said they speak good English and have everything that we need.

With the plan made Esmé and I went shopping. We then took a picnic tea and, at AJ's request, went for a walk towards Notre Dame. We stopped at a couple of parks on the way and then spent some time playing in the garden at Notre Dame. A pleasant (hopefully final) evening in Paris.
