Days 403 to 419: 23rd July to 6th August - Cousins visit, preparations and aftermath!

Monday 23rd July

After such a big weekend we were all a little tired. Boatschool and a quick run ashore tired us all out! Esmé even fell asleep on the dinghy ride back!

Tuesday 24th July

Last day of boatschool for a while and AJ managed to finish his maths book so we celebrated with chocolate then some chill out time before heading off to Horizon Watersports for the kids club where we waved goodbye to the kids for a couple of hours where they had a dinghy sailing lesson while we had some much needed chill out time without kids.

Wednesday 25th July

An early start up to to Lefkas, through the bridge and on to Preveza and Cleopatra marina. Once in we had a busy afternoon of laundry and blitzing the boat ready for having 9 people on board! We then had dinner and watched the cousins plane, first on EasyJet's tracking app, and then circling the skies above us for half an hour before an aborted landing and then finally touchdown. It didn't take long for them to arrive at the marina and 2 very tired adults and 3 very excited kids climbed aboard Laurin for 11 days of fun, chaos and exhaustion!

Thursday 26th July to Sunday August 5th

It all passed in a blur of hot, cramped nights, a rock and rolly first passage, fun in beautiful clear anchorages, a watersports day and relaxing in the hotel pool as well as plenty of Gyros, shopping and dancing on the foredeck to the tunes blaring out from the Nidri Star Party Boat!
Fortunately there were 9 sleeping on board for only the first and last nights, for the middle 9 nights Stew and Leanne were in a hotel and we were down to us and 5 kids which is still a squash on a 10m boat but not crazy bad with 2 sleeping in the cockpit. The Hardcastle kids were pretty out of their comfort zone... first time flying, second time sleeping on board, hotter ambient temperature than they are used to and a totally different culture. They did amazing, snorkling, driving the boat, rowing, paddle boarding and generally climbing about Laurin. They did miss their home comforts though and I think their own beds will never have seemed so welcoming as when they returned to England!

Monday 6th August - Lefkas to End Bay

An early start saw us saying goodbye to Lefkas and on our way to our old favourite, End Bay wherew we were hoping to meet Louise, Lachin, Siara and Kai on AraKai. We managed to squeeze ourselves in and then the AraKais dinghied round to join us where we shared beer and a swim before dinner and bed.
