Days 341 & 342: 21st and 22nd May 2018 - Gouvia and Sayiadha

Monday 21st May

School was abandoned in favour of lazing by the pool all day while Patrick valiantly did the bus run into Corfu Town to find a pharmacy that was open (it was a bank holiday). After spending the last 2 days at the hospital it was nice to relax and the kids splashed and swam until it was time for our friends on BOAG to depart. Staying in marinas is expensive and also hotter and busier than being at anchor so they were keen to limit their stay to 2 nights. Their plan was to head to an anchorage outside Corfu Town so that they could go shopping the next day. We were too tired to even contemplate moving so opted to stay a third night and shop at the supermarket 5 minutes walk away the next day. Whilst Patrick was in Corfu Town he saw some of the bands marking the special day, but then very quickly returned with drugs in hand.

We spent the afternoon lazing on the boat before a quick tidy up and dinner, followed by an early night. I tried hitting the sack really early at about 7:30 but couldn't sleep so decided to walk round to Peter and Gwen's boat "What's the Rush" and ask them over for a glass of wine. Peter and Gwen are fellow Cruising Association members and we had followed them down the Italian coast in the Autumn before finally meeting them in Ragusa where they were also winter liveaboards.

As Peter had just got out of the shower they invite me for a drink on their boat instead... Patrick mus have thought I got lost, but a change of scene and a drink and a chat was exactly what I needed to relax. Once back on Laurin it was easy to get to sleep.

Tuesday 22nd May

After a good nights sleep we all felt much better and after breakfast and a load of hand washing we headed out of the marina for a hair cut. Next stop was the supermarket, where we first loaded up the trolley with drinks that Patrick and AJ took to the boat before returning to help us with the rest of the shopping. Back on board, threw the cold stuff in the fridge and then headed to the pool with Esmé for a swim while Patrick filled up with water before we had to leave at 2:30pm.

We then motored to Sayiadha in blistering heat, eating lunch and stowing shopping on the way. On our arrival we were met by Jasper and the kids in their dinghy offering to taxi us in to the shore later on. Once anchored we got changed and headed to the recommended Taverna and the kids had their first real taste of Greek food. We had Tzatziki, Prawns, courgette, calamari, burgers and pasta. A great meal in a lovely location. We can't afford to eat out often but this was a lovely treat which we all enjoyed before being taxied back to Laurin.
